Alcoholic beverages prohibited
It is not advisable to drink alcoholic beverages during the first visits to the Imperial city as some specialists believe that the effects of alcohol increase the altitude sickness. The acclimatization process can be interrupted by consuming wine, pisco, vodka, or any other similar substance. Therefore, it is recommended not to visit bars or liquor stores when you arrive in Cusco.
Tourists are advised to enjoy the trip to Cusco without any kind of rush. Remember that the body needs to adapt to the height of Cusco and the small amount of oxygen.
